Garage Door Information : Frequently asked Questions : Frequently asked Questions

Why are your doors cheaper than my local garage door company?

Having been in the garage door industry since 1982 we have built invaluable relationships with all our suppliers, and we are therefore able to use our buying power to negotiate the best possible prices and deals from all the manufacturers and pass the savings to you,

Will my door be new?

We only sell new garage doors, we don’t sell old second hand or factory refurbished doors, and infact most doors are made to order due to the fact manufacturers cutting back on stock leaves, over 90% of the doors we supply to our customers have been made for them.

How long will delivery of my new garage door take?

Delivery usually takes between 7 to 28 days from receipt of your payment, some special sized doors or special order doors from abroad can take up to 4 to 8 weeks to arrive but you will be notified at the time of order if this is likely to happen and be given the opportunity to chose an alternative door, you can request a delivery update anytime by calling our freephone number 0800 220447.

We will always contact you in advance to notify you of the intended delivery date.

Do you deliver north of the border?

Again due to our unique relationships with all of our suppliers we are able to deliver anywhere on mainland UK, delivery to sea and airports are also available.

How much notice will I get of a delivery date?

To avoid cancelled deliveries due to the doors coming in late or damaged we normally contact you the day before delivery. This is to ensure that we can inspect the door so that it arrives in pristine condition.  However, should this turn out to be inconvenient we can always reschedule delivery for our next run into your area.

Can I have a specific delivery date and time slot allocated?

Unfortunately this isn't possible due to our deliveries being to fixed areas on fixed days therefore we cannot change our route. The advantage of contacting you the day before, is that we have already carried out a provisional timings run of the following days deliveries and can usually offer a 2 -3 hour window.  Also the delivery driver can give you a call 1 hour in advance if requested.

What do the sizes mean?

Please take a look at our ‘Garage Door Buying Guide’, this will offer as much information as possible and will advise on how to measure for your new door.  We also have members of staff available from 8am until 8pm on hand to offer as much assistance as possible over the telephone – 0800 220447.

Do I need to help the driver with the door on delivery?

All we ask if an able bodied person is available at the time of the delivery, our drivers will assist you and carry the door to the garage.  However, health and safety of our drivers is of paramount importance to us so we will not allow them to carry doors over uneven ground.

When do I pay?

Payment is made at the time of order with doors that are available to deliver within the week.  Payment for doors which will be made to order is authorised at the time of order, but not taken until 5 days before delivery.

Can I pay the delivery driver?

Due to our drivers having several deliveries on each delivery run, they do not want the responsibility of carrying payments around with them, also some delivery runs incorporate an overnight stop out.

Can I collect the door?

Yes, we welcome collections from our Devon location, however all deliveries to mainland UK are FREE, so why not take advantage of our purpose built vehicles.  Address details for collection will be given on completion of the sale.

Do I pay VAT?

Yes, we are a UK based company so VAT is charged at the applicable rate at the time of sale.  All our website prices are shown inclusive of VAT.

Where can I find detailed technical information that isn’t on this site?

We endeavour to offer all technical information and specifications on our website.  This can be found in the ‘Garage Door Information’ section or you can visit any of our suppliers/manufacturers sites to look up the details required.

I don’t understand the difference between Canopy and Retractable lifting gear?

Details on 'Lifting Gear' can be found in the ‘Garage Door Buying Guide'.  This sections explains the differences between the gear systems available, also please remember we have members of staff available from 8am until 8pm on hand to offer as much assistance as possible over the telephone – 0800 220447.

Is the information you provide reliable?

As a company we have been trading since 1982, also a member of our team has been in the garage door industry for over 50 years.

Can I automate a canopy door?

Yes, but you need to purchase a canopy bow arm converter.  However, we do not advise automating canopy doors, it is much better to purchase the retractable door gear.  This type of door works out slightly more than the canopy door but is considerably less than the cost of the bow arm converter.

What do I receive with a new door?

Everything you need to install your new garage door, right down to screws and bolts.  Please note you do not get a frame unless specified at the time of order.

Do I need a frame?

The answer to this all depends on the door you choose.  With up & over - Canopy & Retractable doors, yes you will need a frame for these types of doors.  You can also buy these doors and fix it to your existing timber frame.  Steel factory fit frames are available as an option with all our up & over doors.  Side hinged doors are pre framed as standard, unless otherwise specified.  Sectional doors come complete with the frame which will fit direct to the brickwork and Roller doors can be fitted direct to the brick/blockwork also.

Can I order a door then return it if it does not fit?

All orders for garage doors and remote control systems can be returned to us, providing they haven't been installed/unwrapped and the fitting packs are unopened and undamaged. If you do not require a replacement door, a charge for restocking may be incurred to cover any transportation costs from our suppliers - normally between 10% and 20%.

If you do require a replacement door, there will usually be a charge to cover transportation costs from our suppliers, but this will be at a reduced rate. However, please be assured we will do everything we can to eliminate incorrect doors being ordered and we will not leave you with a door you cannot use. We will do our best to change over the door at the cheapest option available.

Are my details secure?

Yes, we use a SSL secure server provided by Sagepay to process your payment.  Your personal details are secure, we never receive your card details, the only details we receive from Sagepay once you have completed the checkout process is your name, address, telephone number and the items you have ordered.

We are fully compliant with the new PCI DSS rules imposed by the credit card providers meaning our site is tested against hackers and all security threats.
